HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-12-1979 Regular MeetingThe December meeting of the Recreation Department was held on Wednesday the 12th of December at 7:00 p.m. at the City Administration Building 387 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, Alabama.. 'rose members present: Chairman Barney Shull; Plenbers Trisha Nelson, Rae Jackson, Don Smith, Programs Director Roy Lloyd and Phil Rutherford The minutes of the November meeting were read and approved as written. In the matter of old business Trisha Nelson informed the Board that the School Board Trustees had approved the soccer association's use of the High School field. Barney reported on the Concession plans for the Stimpson Field project. He rerarked that he would have them finished in two weeks and we might have a special meeting before January to see what we can do to get it moving again. Also on Stimpson Don recommended authorizing Roy Lloyd to look into what is the best grass we can get for out there, that we certainly want to get what is best so that it will hold up. The Board also discussed getting the topsoil for the field and what it will cost. Phil reported that he had been questioned about the plans to use vending machines in the concession area and had referred these questions to the Board but so far no one had been up to discuss it. Don Smith remarked that we needed to take a look and tell people what we can and can't do as far as this project goes. The bills were discussed and Don Smith made a nwtion to pay them as presented also including a normal amount for the Riviera bill that has not been received• Trisha Nelson seconded and motion carried. Woodie Blanks was present and asked if we could bolt the vending machine out at Young Street to the wall. Phil said he would see about it. We were also asked to see about putting up the fence that the hurricane had knocked doxm. Roy Lloyd reported that he had been negotiating for the use of CuIrangs Hall for basketball games. His talks so far have been favorable. He also asked if we didn't want to do something now about fixing the pool for next summer. Phil Rutherford said he would get in touch with Gordon Bailey and have him come over to look at it and see what we needed to do. Barney Shull mentioned that he wished each member to think about for the next meeting accepting individually some responsibility for the programs/projects of the Board. There being no further business meeting was duly adjourned.
