HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-10-1997 Regular MeetingThe Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met Monday, March 10, 1997 at 8:00 AM in the City Municipal Building, 161 N. Section Street. Present: Chairman Sue Mason; members Bill Payne, Mike Baugh, Andy Huggins, Buzz Colling. Betty Rivenbark, Secretary; Bing Miller and 2 other representatives from Teledyne. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as written. Sue reported that the Cooper/Mitch hangar is coming along. That they have met out at the airport with Phil and Barge/Waggoner representative. She has been in touch with their representative in the area Mr. Noojin but we do not have a signed lease yet. At this time Bing asked Sue what the criteria was on water/sewer and was told when the hangar goes in. He remarked about them putting in their own fuel system and said at what point in time does Teledyne stay and represent the city of Fairhope. Sue told him that there were only 3 corporate spaces available and they can only fuel their airplanes, not sell fuel to anybody else. Sue explained the process and that according to FAA cannot deny them this privilege. She asked if Teledyne had contacted them about the fuel and Bing said no, she said he might want to pursue this. He asked about the sewer, he told Sue about not being able to wash planes and have water run into the ground that they had to haul it away. He also mentioned they are still having trouble with ATV's. Sue asked him to call the police any time he saw them and we will also get in touch with the police and make more signs. Sue mentioned that we have received papers from Barge/Waggoner on submitting a pre -application to the FAA for 97-98 year on acquiring land. That she has heard that there will be some money available for this and we are looking forward to future, new runway. That she would like to have some official action on this. Bill Payne moved that we go ahead and forward the pre -application, Buzz Colling seconded and motion carried unanimously. The letter that the city signed saying they will check the REIL lights for the FAA was mentioned and it was also reported that the VASI lights and PAPI lights were still having problems but we will be checking into that. The letter from the Mobile Amateur Retriever Club was talked about and it was mentioned that their field trials were planned for this weekend but we will take some further action after looking into this. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
