City Clerk, Evelyn Phillips, addressed the Board about the forms
and information the City had to have for the summer part-time
employees that the Recreation Department employed each year.
She brought to the attention of the Board that in the past we
had some trouble in getting the necessary papers filled out
and she was present tonight to help explain the procedures
in hopes we would not have a mix-up this summer. She thanked
the Board for their time and said she would be available for
any questions anyone wished answered on policy.
Charles Smith came before the Board to talk about the Girls/Ladi s
Softball League. He had questions about the field, whether or
not there would be any money available for this league, and
questions about equipment. The Board explained that there was
no money allocated for any league, that they were responsible
for raising their own, and buying the equipment with these funds
That the same field that was used last year was available this
year .
Mr. H. Thelkeld, the Tennis Director, presented to the Board
some figures he had gotten on the re -surfacing of the tennis
courts. He stated that it was necessary to paint the non-
playing as well as the playing area this year. That he was
unable to do it all by himself. Barney Shull advised him that
this money had been budgeted, but that the amount he quoted was
over what we had anticipated. Mr. Thelkeld also informed the
Board that he needed some new windscreens at the tennis courts.
The Chairman informed him that his estimate was about $1500.00
for the windscreen and painting of complete surface of the court
It was decided to wait until June to proceed with the painting
and Mr. Thelkeld would seek prices on the windscreens.
At this time Mr. Thelkeld asked if the Letter of Agreement he
is being asked to sign would in any way change his agreement
with the Recreation Department as it now stands. He was reassured
that it would not. Ed Nelson put in the form of a motion set-
ting aside $1500 for the Tennis Court project, Alton Johnson
seconded and it carried unanimously.
Jerry Anderson came before the Board to discuss the Stim son
Field project. He remarked that if it would be middle op June
as everyone thought it might be before the Field was ready for
use, that he felt the baseball teams would wait until next year
to use the field. The Board members thought this was a good idea.
Henry Haseb reported on Young Street and asked about the basketba 1
goals. Phil Rutherford informed him that they were trying to get
things completed.
After discussion of the bills presented, it was put in the form

motion carried unanimously.
