Attention: Mr. Bc rney Shull
Re: Fairhol,e Girls Softball League
Dear I,1r. Shull,
We wish to express our appreciation for the 1.)800.00 you
have approved for use by the Girls Softball Lague.
As president of this league I find it incumbent on me
to provide ever, opportunity available in Fairhope to develop
our Girls Softball Program in order that we may have the best
facilities available to our girls. ";e wish to encourage every
girl from ages 9 on up to participate. V7e are convinced this
program will grow to be as large as the Boys Little League
Program which the City of Fairhope has encouraged and financially
supported.
In my research into this matter the following facts appear
to be correct and I would be remiss in not bringing attention
to these facts in li,-ht of my co_mitment. The City of Fairhope
provided at no cost to the Boys Little League Baseball Program:
Al. Built three fields
2. Bu_lt a concession stand
3. Provided all lights for approximately ;8,000.00
4 . Giving ,K'1, G00 for 1978 s ason- even though they
currently have $8,000.00 in the bank.
5. Paid Joel `,7ilson and 2 helpers '400.00 /month last
year to drat and line all Boys Little Leu,ue Baseball fields
each night.
B. Pays Single Tax Corp ;2,100/yr rent for use of Stimpson
Field
G. Paid ,2,100 last year for Little Leaziue Football per
request of Mr. Tom Sp ringer- ostensibly for uniforms.
D. Contributes to the Soceer Program.
Personally it is gratifying to see the City of Fairhope
responding to the needs of our youth. Only one inequity exists -
and that is equal support of the Girls of our Community.
Presently the Girls Softball ai.pears to be the first organized
L ,a-ue - enterin,; our se _ond year.
