HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-16-1996 Regular MeetingThe Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met Monday, December 16, 1996 at 4:30 PM at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street Present: Chairman Sue Mason; members Buzz Coiling, Bill Payne, Jeanette Puckett, Andy Huggins, Mike Baugh, Betty Rivenbark, Secretary The purpose of the meeting tonight was to discuss 2 leases - one with Floyd Childress who wishes to farm land at the south end of the airport, and one with Fairhope Hangar Group, L.L.C., who wishes to build a corporate hangar. We had copies of both proposed leases. Under discussion Sue brought up the Childress lease first. Mr. Childress could not be present but had informed us that he wished the lease to be changed to read Childress Farms and the principals would be - Emery F. Childress and his brother, Alvie E. Childress. In discussing the lease among the board members Andy questioned in Article 1. Demise, Description, Use, Term and Rent, portion that reads "to be used only as farm land" and said he would like to see added ... for crops not to include grove orchards or livestock. The board discussed other aspects of the lease and everything else looked okey. A motion was made by Bill Payne, seconded by Buzz Coiling to approve the lease with that one change being made and instruct the chairman to forward on to City Council for further action. Bubba Grimsley, who has been our contact with Fairhope Hangar Group could not be present tonight to discuss their lease with us. There were only a few minor changes the main one being that we inserted that the rent would be payable in advance on the Ist day of each month. It was clarified that they will be operating as a special FBO, a corporate entity, not profit making. Further discussion led to a motion being made by Buzz Coiling to accept lease as changed, and instruct the chairman to forward on to City Council for further action. Bill Payne seconded and motion carried unanimously. There being no further business meeting was duly adjourned.
