HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-30-1976 Special MeetingTHE FAIRHOPE PARK AND RECREATION BOARD The Fairhope Park and Recreation Board met in special session on Tuesday, March 30, 1976, at 7:00 P.M., at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope , Alabama with Chairman Barney L. Shull presiding. The following members were present: Mr. Jack Stipes, Mr. David Stapleton and Mrs. Jean Smith. Mr. Charlie Gravat was absent from the meeting. Also present was Programs Director Eddie Nelson and Facilities Director Phil Rutherford. The purpose of the special meeting was for Recreation Board members to meet with Engineer Ack Moore about the possible cutting of costs where possible on the low bid received from Sumlin and Sumlin Construc- tion Company on the site preparation for the new stadium. The following revisions were made to the original bid received from Sumlin and Sumlin: Item # 1- Track was omitted until BOR Funds can be applied for. Item # 2- W/S Stands stayed as originally bid. Item # 3- W/S Rest Rooms and Concessions - Changed to masonary building with a flat roof. Original Bid was 46,994.00 with Masonary Building and Flat Roof cost is 39,616.00 Item # 4- Stands E/S -- Stayed as originally bid. Item # 5- Rest Room and Concessions E/S Omitted. Item # 6- Fencing- Omitted until Recreation Board can apply for BOR Funds. Alternate # 1- Dressing Rooms W/S- Stayed as originally bid. Alternate # 2- Omitted. With revisions the cost of the Site Preparation is as follows: 1. Site Preparation ----- 2. Lighting ------------- 3. Engineering---------- TOTALCOST: 178,805.00 32,538.00 12,516.00 223,859.00 Member Jack Stipes moved to recommend to the City Council that plans be accepted as revised. Mr. David Stapleton seconded the motion. Motion carried. -2- Member Jack Stipes moved to authorize 5 k % for engineering fees based upon the estimated cost of construction. David Stapleton seconded the motion. Motion carried. Programs Director Eddie Nelson presented his Job Discriptions for the summer program ti, members of the Recreation Board. After members had a chance to review the Job Discriptions, David Stapleton moved to accept the recommendations that Eddie Nelson presented on programs and job discriptions. Jean Smith seconded the motion . Motion carried. Mr. Jack Stipes moved to authorize overtime pay for a man to go out and scrape the baseball field at Young Street in order for it to be ready by saturday, April 3, 1976. Mr. David Stapleton seconded the motion. Motion carried.
