HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-24-1976 Special Meetingf r N I 11, t THE FAIRHOPE PARK AND RECREATION BOARD Minutes for Meeting March 24, 1976 The Fairhope Park and Recreation Board met in special session on Wednesday, March 24, 1976, at 7:00 P.M., at the City Administra- tion Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, Alabama, with Chairman Barney L. Shull presiding. The following members were present: Mr. Charlie Gravat, Mrs. Jean Smith, Mr. David Stapleton and Mr. Jack Stipes. Also present were Facilities Director, Phil Rutherford and Programs Director, Eddie Nelson. The minutes of the February meeting were approved as recorded. The bills for the month were gone over. Member David Stapleton moved to pay all bills for the month, seconded by Charlie Gravat. Motion carried. March 24, 1976 being the date for the opening of bids on Site Preparation and Lighting for the new Stadium, the following bids were received: LIGHTING• 1. Mack Electric Supply Company----------------------- 32,538.00 Jack Stipes moved to acknowledge the bids as received, and to accept the apparent low bid, that being Mack Electric Supply Company, once the bids have been reviewed by the Electric Department. Fencing------------------------------- 14,048.00 TOTAL BID BALDWIN CONSTRUCTORS: 254,198.00 Member Charlie Gravat moved to acknowledge the receipt of the Bids on Stadium Seating and Site Preparation, with Sumlin & Sumlin the apparent low bidder, and to notify bidder after the Recreation Board has evaluated bid. Jean Smith seconded the motion, Motion carried. The plans for the new Stadium were looked over by Board members, and a special meeting was scheduled for March 30, 1976, at 7:00 P.M., in order for Board Members to decide where items could be cut in order to stay within the budget range allowed for the Stadium. Member Charlie Gravat moved to instruct Mr. Ack Moore,of Moore Engineering to proceed with the low bidder, that being Sumlin and Sumlin, to see where any costs could be eliminated in order to stay -ithin the budget, with results to be reported upon at the special meeting scheduled for March 30, 1976A Motion seconded by Jean Smith. Motion carried. Member Charlie Gravat moved to authorize Facilities Director Phil Rutherford , to plant rye grass for this season, in order to get on with the schedule. David Stapleton seconded the motion. Motion carried. Chairman Shull informed Recreation Board Members of the need to get started as quickly as possible in applying for BOR Matching Funds, on the Recreation Project Impiovement Projects. The Board authorized Mr. Ack Moore to proceed with applying for BOR Funds. Page # 3 Fairhope Park and Recreation Board Minutes for Meeting March 24, 1976 In other business Recreation Board members asked Programs Director, Eddie Nelson to proceed with getting up a job description list on the Summer Program. Member Charlie Gravat moved to pay Coach Lee the sum of $ 200.00 per month for the months of February and March. Jack Stipes seconded the motion. Motion carried. There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
