,_ THE FAIRHOPE PARK AND RECREATION BOARD

The Fairhope Park and Recreation Board met in regular session
on Wednesday, July 16, 1975 at 7:30 P.M. at the City Administration
Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, Alabama with Chairman Barney
Shull presiding.
Members Present : Mrs. Jean Smith, Mr. Jack Stipes
Members Absent : Mr. David Stapleton and Mr. Charlie Gravat.
Guests Present: Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lindsey of the Adult and Tourist Recreation
Center.
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as recorded.
The Bills for the month of June were gone over. Jack Stipes moved to
pay all bills. Jean Smith seconded the motion.
Motion Carried.
Mr. Eugene Lindsey gave a report on the activities and financial condition
of the Adult and Tourist,Recreation Center. Mr. Lindsey brought the fact that
the new water cooler was paid for practically completely by the memorial funds
left by past members to the Adult and Tourist Recreation Center, to the Recreation
Boards attention. Also, various other new items along with maintainence items
was reported to the Board members.
It was brought up that the membership for both winter and summer at the Adult
Center has broken all previous records.

Chairman Shull read the letter of invitation to the Recreation Board
from Mrs. Anna Wood concerning the exhibits, demonstrations, and one -act
play which is to be presented by the Young Street Art Program at 4:00 P.M.
on July 27, 1975. t
The bill for repairing the air conditioner at the Adult and Tourist Recreation
Center was discussed. Jack Stipes moved to pay the Ingersoll's Refrigeration
and Airconditioning bill along with the other bills of the month. Jean Smith
seconded the motion. Motion Carried.
It was mentioned that the gmessing of the new football field would be paid for
out of the Recreation Phase 11 account with any monies above what is in the
,'Phase II Account to be provided by the school.
A discussion followed on the FAirhope Civitans taking over coordinating the
Youth Football Program. In such a case the Recreation Board would appropriate
monies and the Civitans would take the over-all program.
There was a discussion on the present summer program, and the various problems
which have been encountered. It was brought up that there was a need for a full-
time Recreation Director.
There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting
adjourned at 9.00 P.M.
