The changes in the Recreation Board were explained to Mr. Robinson.
The bills for the month were gone over. Dr. Johnson moved to pay all
bills with the exception of the utility bill of The City of Fairhope;
in the amount of $ 474.63 and the Fairhope Single Tax for colony
rent in the amount of $ 953.25. The motion was seconded by David
Stapleton. Motion Carried.
Member David Stapleton brought up the need for restroom facilities
at the Tennis Courts. It was mentioned that that the supervision
of the facilities would be hard to control. No action was taken.

by Dr. Johnson and seconded by David Stapleton. Motion carried.

Coach Majors requested that the Recreation Board approve $ 400.00
for half of the cost of purchasing a Sauna Heater; with the school
paying the other half of the cost. This $ 400.00 would come out of the
monies appropriated for Facilities Improvements. Member David
Stapleton suggested that perhaps a fee for membership of $ 10.00
annually could be charged. A motion was made be David Stapleton
to authorize Director Coach Majors to purchase items needed to

Recreation Board Meeting
( Con't. )
Member David Stapleton made a motion to present
to the City Council for consideration an increase
in cigarette tax of one cent per pack so that the
Recreation Board would have sufficient funds to operate
within the proposed budget. Motion was seconded
and passed. Chairman Barney Shull stated that he
would like to get together a list of reasons to
present to the City Council to justify an increase
in cigarette taxes.
Coach Majors gave his recommendation that it would not
be necessary to purchase a gate for the Tennis Courts
but rather that the Recreation Board use the money to
buy paints and materials to repair the courts.
Chairman Barney Shull presented a letter from Faulkner
State Junior College requesting the use of the Tennis
Court near the elementary school. The College said
that they would pay rental charges. Coach Majors
said that due to the already extensive programs now
active within our own school system that we could not
obligate the court for the time wanted by Faulkner
State. The letter was turned over to the Recreation
Board Secretary for reply.
The increase in the Recreation Board Secretary's salary
was discussed and a motion made by David Stapleton to
increase the Recreation Board Secretary's salary from
