HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-08-1996 Regular MeetingThe Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met Monday, April 8, 1996
at 8:00 AM at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street
Present: Chairman Sue Mason; members Robert Coiling, Khim Vira, Jeanette
Puckett, Andy Huggins. Secretary Betty Rivenbark
The minutes of the February 12, 1996 meeting were duly approved with
one correction noted ( There was no March meeting due to a lack of a
quorum) .
Buzz asked at this time since there is not much activity at this time
do we really need to meet every month? No one knew for sure if
there is a law that requires this but the secretary will check into it
and report back at May meeting.
Sue reported that on March 11th she met with Mike Helmsing of Vo Ikert & Assoc.
who have been hired by the state to do the GPS study at the airport. She said
she learned that they are going to do the study at 3 other airports in the
state, that she did not know how long this will take. Buzz asked if we met
all the requirements what equipment will go in with the GPS, the answer
being whatever they decide. Brad Harris and Tony Gee were present
and said they have a GPS unit in their plane now. All thought end result
would certainly be worth it.
Sue asked how things were going with them at the airport and they said
ups and downs ... that one problem they are having is with birds, that
they've just painted the airplane but the birds continue to ruin it by bird
droppings. They asked if we knew if Teledyne was going to redo the
north hangar and Sue said that we were under the impression they were.
Sue asked if they were still interested in land at end of ramp and they said yes.
The sale of Teledyne that was in this weekend's paper was talked about and
how it might affect us, hopefully it won't.
Sue talked about possibility of buying land around airport eventually, that
we can get anticipory zoning, which would be a help if there were not
subdivisions on this land when we needed and decided to buy it. That she
has talked to Bob Lunsford about this and he is working on it.
There was a bill from Tut Wynne that needed paying and was approved
on motion by Robert Coiling, seconded by Jeanette Puckett.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
