AIRPORT BOARD
September 27, 1963
Members present: Dr. Mullins, Mr. Lacey, and Mr. Byrne.
Guest: Mayor Schneider
Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved.
Paving of the access road was discussed. Mr. Schneider
volunteered to follow up on it.
Dr. Mullins decided it would be best not to ask the County
for their share of the money at the present time.
Or. Mullins discussed his trip to the Bay Minette Airport.
He arrived at the following conclusions:
(1) Base Operator should be required
to buy gas on own field.
(2) Shuttle Service from Bates Field
to Grand Hotel should be incor-
porated in the Base Operator A reement.
He further stated that he was awaiting a proposal from
Trans Air in New Orleans.
Dr. Mullins suggested that someone pursue Fairhope's
getting the Mobile Air National Guard unit. He also
expressed the desire for someone to begin looking for
surplus material for the Airport. Mr. Byrne agreed to
follow up on the surplus material procurement.
Dr. Mullins noted those who had responded to the ques-
tionnaire.
Electric service was discussed. It was agreed that Mr. Kirk
should be approached to negotiate at city prices ,just as a
municipal operation. He is also to see that the wires at
the (Wept) end of the field are lowered.

Dr. Mullins suggested that no formal Dedication be held until
the Base Operator is engaged.
A general discussion of hanger types followed.
Dr. Mullins mentioned the selling of stock to corporations
to finance Airport operations. He further suggested that
the publicity be turned over to Sam Price.
The meeting was adjourned.
