HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-11-1995 Regular MeetingThe Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met Monday, December 11, 1995 at 8:00 AM at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section St. Present: Chairman Sue Mason; members Andy Huggins, Robert Coiling, Mike Baugh, Khim Vira, Bill Payne The minutes of the November 6, 1995 meeting were duly approved as written. Sue reported that Teledyne has officially taken over the airport as of December 1, 1995. That we will be receiving $8,555 in payments each month, $7,000 rent and $1,500 for tank lease. She asked if anyone has been out to see what they have done, Bill is the only one so far. She said they will start the big building after the first of the year. That they have 7 total workers now and will hire others later. She said she had received a letter from the Alabama Department of Aeronautics that is changing their quarterly meeting to an annual meeting. Since we have not been ratified of these meetings before it really does not back a big difference to us. The board discussed in length the new airport layout plan that Barge, Waggoner had sent. It shows a 2nd runway in the future and proposes some land acquisition. Mike raised some pertinent questions about notifying the people now about future land acquisition when it becomes necessary. She asked for a formal motion as this has to be forwarded to the FAA after adopted by board and council. She moved that we recommend acceptance to the city council of the future airport layout plan and masterplan and pursue at whatever speed considering options with an option to purchase for future expansion of the airport the land shown on the ALP to include all land that we might ever need to buy for the future expansion of the airport. William Payne seconded and motion carried unanimously. Sue said she will get with Bob about what we need to do now about notifying they people or putting them on notice that at some time in the future we might wish to purchase this land. Sue reported that Hardy Co nst. Co. has been reported by Barge, Waggoner (Wayne Smith) to be in default. That they had been given a punch list and failed to fix things satisfactorily so the city clerk has been notified to not pay any bills presented. That Hardy keeps promising that they will fix to satisfaction but so far nothing has happened. Khim suggested sending a letter to the bonding company, that might get something going. A motion was made by William Payne, seconded by Robert Coiling to pay a bill from Tut Wynne for $200.00. Sue said that Cl ark's lawyers have contacted us about settling but they have missed a couple of payments so we might we going to court after all. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
