LETTER
Mr. Layton Overstreet
President
Eastern Shore Babe Ruth
560 Johnson Avenue
Fairhope, Alabama 36532
Dear Mr. Overstreet:
We would like to express our appreciation to you
and the members of your league for the wonderful co-
operation extended the umpires throughout the 13 year
old District Babe Ruth Tournament.
The fans and managers conducted themselves as per-
fect ladies and gentlemen. Every player was most co-
operative and at no time questioned any of our decisions
--indeed an example to all of us. The spirit of fun ex-
isted throughout the tournament. Everpone came to have
a good time, and we feel they did.
As you know the umpires called 80 games this year
for the Eastern Shore Babe Ruth League without charge.
We were most happy to call these games for our young-
sters and called for them and for them only. We hope
to be able to offer these same arrangements for next
year to help in your effort to expand and improve our
baseball program.
In the same feeling of friendliness and our desire
to help the Babe Ruth of our area we render the following:
Umpire 16 ball games, July
This was Er $30.00.
Less discount for Eastern
27 through August 6 $480.00
Shore Babe Ruth 230.00
'$ 250.00
Please make the check payable to the Faiihope City
Recreation Department. We have requested this money be
used to purchase Babe Ruth Uniforms for 1971; however,
there is no stipulation as to how the Recreation Depart-
ment uses this donation.
