HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-13-1970 Regular MeetingFAI RHOIPE PARK AND RECREaXI ON BOARD The Fairhope Park and Recreation Board met Wednesday, may 139 1970 at 7:30 Pall., at the City Hall, with the following present: Chairman B. L. Shull, members: Dr. R. H. Johnson, Mr. Gordon K. Burton, Mr. David Stapleton, Mr. D. T. Chatwood. Director W.C. Mla jo and Councilman Robert H. Cowen. Mr. Burton moved to approve minutes of last regular meeting. Dr. Johnson seconded, motion carried. Dr. Johnson moved to pay bills, seconded by Mr. Burton, carried. Young Street pool was discussed. It was decided that family memtiershop would be $25.00 and $.50 per person wishing to swim. Director Majors presented board with a petition of twenty names of local women who are interested in a physical fitness program, to be under the directorshop of the Recreation Board. r. Burton moved to incorporate Ladies Physical Fitness program in he summer recreation program. Dr. Johnson seconded, motion carrie . Ir. Cowen presented plan for a summer play period for youngsters ag on years and under. r. Burton moved to try out play period as set out by Councilman owen, hours to be set by Director Majors. Mr. Stapleton seconded lotion carried unanimously. r. Shull having obtained prices on improvements for existing tenni ourt at Elementary School, quoted the following: Low quotation or fence and two gates $1,400.00, lighting and poles 62#000.00; esurfacing $1,500.00. Same to be presented to the City Council o obtain formal bids and for final approv al. he Board adjourned to Young Street Park Area to view facilities s being completed for summer program, reporting that they were ell pleased with the progress made. here being no further business meeting adjourned. Rockwell Post" Office Box 772 Fairhope, Alabama Dear Mr. Rockwell: The Fairhope Park.and Recreation Board at their regular meeting of April 1S, 1970 requested the secretary to write letter requesting use of the recreation Building at the Organic School of Education for their Summer Arts and Crafts Program. Again Mrs. Vines will be in charge of the program and expects to begin June 2nd through July 2nd. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated as have the numbeous other times you have come through for us.
