HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-18-1970 Regular MeetingFAI RHOPE PARK AND RECREATION BOARD The Fairhope Park and Recreation Board met Wednesday, march 18, 1970 at 7:30 P`ym., at the City Hall. Present: Mr. Barley L. Shull Chairman. members: D. T. Chatwood, Dr. R. H. Johnson, Gordon Burt n and David Stapleton. Directors: W. C. majors and Perry Lowery. Representing Young Street Recreation was John Robinson, mose Lovet t, Louis Agee and Clyde Campbell. Mr. Burton moved to approve minutes of last regular meeting. Dr. Johnson seconded, motion carried. Mr. Burton moved to pay bills, Dr. Johnson seconded, motion Carrie . Argrbuptmho are interested in tennis was heard. After a question and answer period Mr. Shull explained to this group why the City could not proceed with the construction of new courts at the Green Park, suggesting that the existing courts be resurfaced, lighted and fenced, then to proceed with the construction of new courts at a later date. It is hoped the existing courts will be in opera- tion by the time the summer program is active. The group representing Young Street Recreation Center was heard. It was explained to them how the development of a complete park complex would be effected; that as with the Greeno Park it would have to be done in stages as money was available and Boatd could evaluate the operations and know that there would be enough in re- ceipts to carry on a full time program. The question of management of swimming pool was discussed. Director majors explained a workable program as to efficient operation and direction. Mr. Shull explained how help would be hired. The need of a tractor was brought before the Board. motion by Mr. Stapleton, seconded by Mr. Chatwood to rent tractor. motion carried unanimously.
