HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-14-1969 Regular MeetingFAIRHOPE PARK AND RECREATION BOARD The Fairhope Park and Recreation Board met Wednesday, may 14, 1969 at 7:30 P.m., at the City Hall with the following present: (Chairman Shull, members: Chatwood, Burton, Johnson, Stapleton, Directors: majors and Lowery, Councilman Cowen, Guests: Charles Belew and Young Street Director, John Robinson. Dr. Johnson approved minutes of last regular meeting as corrected. lMr. Burton seconded, motion carried. Mr. Burton moved to approve bills, Mr. Stapleton seconded, motion carried unanimously. Mr. Chatwood moved to proceed with negotiations as recommended by City Council concerning purchase of Bradley property for Golf (Course Site. Mr. Burton seconded, motion carried unanimously. Bids on Young Street pool discussed. Mr. Shull reported to Board that modern Industries was low bidder and will proceed with constri tion of same within three weeks. Director majors reported that new filter for Recreation Center Pool was in and that Mr. Belmw will handle installation work. Mr. Burton moved to increase salary of Young Street Director to I$1,600.00 per annum, and an additional $400.00 for two aids as re- commended by Director majors. Mr. Stapleton seconded, motion car- ried unanimously. Mr. Belew's request to Board to sponsor additional football team will be discussed at a later date. In order for softball to be played at Stimpson Field, Board to re- quest City to remove fence and store at garage for for use else- where. Mr. Burton suggested to Board that six new tennis courts (3 double; should be considered for park area. Request of School to Recreation Board concerning playground equip- ment duscussed. Board to consider same in next years budget.
