The Fairhope Park and Recreation Board met Wednesday, Dec.
11, 1968 at 7:30 P.M., at the City Hall. The following mem-
bers were present: Chairman Shull, members Stipes, Chatwood,
and Burton, Directors majors and Lowery. member Johnson was
absent.
Guests: Keith Carson, Douglas McLain, Sam Box, Jr., Henry
Crawford, Jr., and Fred Pace.
Mr. Burton moved to approve minutes of regular meeting of
November, Mr. Chatwood seconded. .Lotion carried.
Mr. Burton moved to pay bills with exception of material
Sales which is capital improvement. Mr. Stipes seconded
motion. Carried.
Mr. Burton moved to pay bill of Fort Reil Armory, for use
for Halloween Party. mv: Chatwood seconded, motion carried.
Letter from Professor Boykin thanking Board for their in-
terest in Young Street Area Halloween Activity. He stated
that some 550 to 600 young people had participated.
Report from Adult Recreation was turned in; will be reviewed
and discussed at later meeting.
Mr. Fred Race reported that basketball teams were ready
to begin their season and thanked the board for their co-
operation.
Douglas McLain representing S occor team which has been in
existance for a short.time here in Fairhope and which has
sixteen players in this area reported on their progress
and interest in expansion. Keith Carson and Sam Box, Jr.,
expressed their need for recreation board approval and
assistance in that they wish to coach young boys and com-
pete in State Tournaments.
Mr. Chatwood moved to expand Recreation program to cover
S occor. Mr. Stipes seconded, motion carried.
Mr. Chatwood moved, Mr. Stipes seconded, that the following
be incorporated into the Recreation Board minutes:
"We, members of the Fairhope Park and Recreation Board wish
to thank the City Council for their recommendation of a
planned Recreation building at Greeno Park. However, we
feel that a closer look into the future should be taken
and that a larger complex should be considered at this
time':.. .. .
Motion carried.

Mr. Stipes moved that $100.00 to each of the Directors,
Majors and Lowery be allowed for services rendered on the
buildings at the Greeno mark. Mr. Burton seconded, motion
earried.
It was duly moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn.
