The Fairhope Park and Recreation Board met Wednesday# August 14t
1968 at 7:30 P.m., at City Hall with the following present:
Chairman Shull, members Johnson, Chatwood and Stipes; Directors
Majors and Lowery. Absent: Mr. Burton.
Guests: Mr. -Dick Scott Preisgen and Mr. Vence Valentim.
Minutes of previous meeting approved as recorded.
Dr. Johnson moved to pay bills, Mr. Chatwood seconded, motion
carried.
Director Lowery discussed football program. Draft date set for
August 19 and practice to Begin August 26th. .motion by Dr.
Johnson, seconded by Mr* Chatwood to accept low bid of Thoss
Sporting Goods on football equipment. motion carried unanimously.
Director majors gave a financial report on swimming pool. Season
has been a success and has no outstanding bills.
Mr. Preisgen and Mr. Valentim thanked the Recreation Board on
behalf of Babe Ruth League for their support and effort in
helping to make the State Babe Ruth Tournament a success. A
financial report was also given to Board. Board in turn con-
gratulated managers, coaches, parents, players and.all who gave
of their time and talents toward a successful season.
Dr. Johnson suggested that score board be relocated to right
field so there may not be an unobstructed view of same.
Mr. Chatwood moved that Board allow $50.00 to Terry Stewart
and Dick Whittington to defray expenses for trips made by these
two managers to mobile Regional Tournament. Mr. Stipes seconded
motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Stipes moved that Board reimburse Fairhope Little League for
end.of season banquet expense in amount of $131.50. Mr, Chatwood
seconded, motion carried.
Mr. Chatwood moved to change pay schedule of Directors as follows:
Majors -twelve equal pay periods in amount of $200.00 per month.
Lowery- twelve equal pay periods in amount of $135.00 per month.
Mr. Stipes seconded, motion carried unanimously.
Adult Tourist Recreation directors to meet with Board at next
regular meeting, September Up 1968. YRes
Motion by Dr. Johnson, seconded by Mr. Stipes that meeting
adjourn.
