FAIRHOPE PARK AND RECREATION BOARD The Fairhope Park and Recreation Board met Wednesday, July/$', 1968 at 7s30 p.m., at City Hall with the following present: Chairman Shull, members Burton, Stipes, Johnson and Chatwood. Director Lowe In the absence of Mrs. Smith, Mr. Stipes acted as secretary. Mr. Burton moved to approve minutes of previous regular meeting, Dr. Johnson seconded, motion earried. Motion by Mr. Burton for approval of the Agreement between the Recreation Board and a private Corporation who are to construct a golf course. Motion seconded by Mr. Chatwood, carried unanimously AGREEMENT = '.':HEREAS, the Fairhope Recreation Board has been conducting a membership diive for a municipally organized/membership funded folf course and... WHEREAS, the Fairhope City Council has been petitioned by a Private Corporation for the right to construct a golf course and facilities with the assurance of certain factors of assistance and... WHEREAS, a part of the charter membership fees have been col- lected and are on deposit in the First National Bank of Fairhope. BE IT THEREFORE MOVED, that the Fairhope Recreation Board will continue conducting the membership drive to assist the Private Corporation in establishing a charter membership roll of 400 members at the advertised charter membership fee of $150.00 and an additional 200 members at a fee of $300.00 privided the follow- ing points are accepted by the Private Corporation. 1. That the Recreation Board will be reimbursed in full for all public funds expended on this project to date or in the future. 2. That all bonafide members will not be charged any as- sessments for costs of the facilities, its operation or construction. 3. That the membership monthly dues will continue to be at the advertised rates (Family 10.00 month etc) so long as the bonafide member maintains his membership. 4. That the Private Corporation will establish a mem- bership Governing Board which will have the sole responsibility of presiding for the membership at large and its interest toward harmonious operations with all concerned. .This Board shall be composed of seven (7) members; three (3) appointed by the Private Corporation; two (2) appointed by the Fair - hope City Council and two (2) elected at large from club membership. BE IT FURTHER MOVED that the Fairhope Recreation Board will in- tiate transfer of fees received to the Private Corporation within inety (90) days after construction begins on facilities and that he transfer of all funds will be completed on the date of golf ourse and facilities are open for play pending their acceptance nd approval of all items stated by written affirmation to the ecreation Board. oved by: Dr. Johnson econded by: Mr. Chatwood he above motion was approved and passed by unanimous vote this Oth day of July, 1968. ttested to: Barney L. Motion by Mr. Burton that $15.00 be allowed from swimming pool fund to cfeate a flower garden at pool site, seconded by Mr. Chatwood, carried. Motion by Mr. Stipes to allow Adult Tourist Recreation $400.00 for summer program, seconded by Mr. Burton, carried unanimously. Upon motion by ©r. Johnson and seconded by Mr. Burton, Board unanimously approved request that the City install sand filter at the swimming pool, as the filter there needs to be,replaced and that a sand filter would be much more economical; that this be a capital improvement request.
