HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-08-1968 Regular MeetingFAIRHOPE PARK AND RECREATION BOARD The Fairhope Park and Recreation Board met Wednesday, May B. 1968 at 7t30 p.m., at City Hall with the following present: Chairman Sh@ll, members Stipes, Johnson, Chatwood and Burton, Directors Majors and Lowery. Guests: Mr. Larry Grodzecki, Representative of the National Golf Foundation. John Robinson, representing Young Street Recreation Center. Mr. Burton moved to approve minutes as written, Dr. Johnson se- conded, motion carried. Mr. Burton moved to pay bills with the exception of $148.40 to Victory Electric Company. Dr. Johnson seconded, motion carried. Young Street Recreation Center was discussed. John Robinson out- lined needed repairs and equipment. Board to make recommendations to City Council. Mr. Grodzecki was given a breakdown as to progress made toward development of golf course, who in turn discussed with Board his experiences and knowledge of operational costs and development of golf courses and made several recommendations beneficial to further the project. Board discussed ball packs and recommends that City Council purchas and install as capital improvement ak a 100' culvert 6 X 11 at entrance to pool at ditch and seventy feet from ball park to Volanta Avenue. Also to purchase and install water fountains for pool and Young Street Center. Board further recommends to City Council to have patroleman check cigarette tax in the City Limits of the City of Fairhope. This being date for opening bids on little league equipment, Dr. Johnson moved to accept low bid of Thoss Spooting Goods. Mr. Chatwood seconded. motion carried. Mr. Burton moved to employ Mrs. Daisey Vines as Director of Arts, Crafts and Great Books Program for summer season at a salary of $500.00, to be paid in one pay period. Mr. Stipes seconded, motio carried. Mr. Stipes moved to adjourn, Dr. Joheson seconded, motion carried. Next regular meeting, June 12, 1968.
