HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-17-1967 Special MeetingFAIRHOPE RECREATION BOARD, SPECIAL MEETING, MONDAY, APRIL 17, 1967 AT 7:30 P.M., CITY HALL, FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA. Purpose of meeting to organize Young Street Recreation Program. Present: Chairman Shull, members Stipes, Burton, Chatwood. Dr. Johnson being absent. Also present Coach Majors and Mr. Kirk. Guests: Mayor R. C. Macon, and representatives from the Young Street Area, Professor Boykin and Eugene Bosby. Applications for director and workers were reviewed. There was a discussion as to organizing Young Street Youth ac- tivities. Professor Boykin suggested that the Center become nucleus of activities; to organize same before going into further programs. Mr. Burton suggested program start one month early, activities to begin May 11 1967. It was suggested that Coach Majors work with Young Street direc- tor in setting up program and an organizing activities. Mr. Burton moved to hire Nathaniel Hunt as Assistant Director, (Director to be named at a future date) at a salary of $705.00 for the season, to be paid in four pay periods, the first pay period to be May 1st. Mr. Chatwood seconded, motion carried. Duties of Assistant Director to organize Junior League, select coaches and to enlist other,aid necessary to carry on the'pro- gram. Professor Boykin to work in close relationship with pro- gram and to help enlist those young people and parents who are interested. There being no further business, upon motion, duly seconded and passed, meeting adjourned.
