1966 - 1967
The representatives of the Adult and Tourist Recreation Club met with The
Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope on September 14, 1966 at which
time the report for the past year was given and a budget was approved for
the following season, which covered seven months instead of six, starting
October 1, thru May,l.
We continued with our plans for tie exhibit at the Greater Gulf States Fair
and final plans for our Annual Rock aad Gem Show. This took the better part
of October.
We held our annual Fall Opening Party on November 1, with approximately
ninety-five guest. Refreshments were served and dues for the fall and winter
season were accepted at that time. The Craft classes were started the
following day.
We had a very successful Rock and Gem show on Nov. 4,5,6 that brought many
visitors into our town from many states. (A report will be furnished on
these events by the Director of our club).
There were the usual classes and many new things taught and the Pot Luck
suppers and field trips throughout the season.
The Recreation Board approved $500.00 more for our program through the summer
months and for thisseason we collected an additional membership fee to pay
some of our expenses. Salaries for the Director and janitorial services were
the only salaries paid out for the summer season.
The spring and summer members of the handcraft class has made a very
beautiful quilt which we plan to raffle and use the funds derivod•from the
raffle to purchase a public address system to be used for programs after
Pot Luck suppers and things such as the Rock and Gem Show, etc.
The Rock and Gem Show is scheduled for Nov. 3,4,5 this year. Money for space
collected from the participating dealers and exhibitors will provide the
necessary funds for trophies, advertising and to pay for the food that the
club furnishes one night to the participating dealers and club members.
We have bought six new banquet tables. These are paid for and should be
adequate for most of our suppers with the exception of the peak months. We
plan to purchase three more tables this season.
We wish to add the following to our inventory furnished Nov. 8, 1966.

2 - Screen Doors 27.00
1 - Slide Projector and Screen 45.00
2 - Portable Electric Fans 35.00

We submit the expenditures for the past eleven months and we have a balance
on hand sufficient to pay salaries and our Quarterly Returns for the third
quarter ending September 30th. Also enough to pay the food bills for
September and possibly enough for the Opening Party.
We respectfully submit these figures, and our proposed budget for your
consideration for the coming season.
