HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-10-1995 Regular Meeting93 The Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met Monday, April 10, 1995 at 8:00 AM at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street Present: Chairman Sue Mason; members Mike Baugh, Jeanette Puckett, Robert Coiling, Bill Payne, Andy Huggins. Secretary Betty Rivenbark was also present The minutes were approved as written and a financial report was given. A progress report was given on the work at the airport. Wayne Smith, Barge Waggoner's engineer on the site, had reported that the project is 58% complete but that the rain had made delays and he had to pull the contractor off the job for a week to let it dry. Plans are now to start back the 17th of April. He said the apron area is ready for sub -base but is too saturated now to do anything. He said 82% of the sub -base is completed. Overall everything is in good shape. We had received a draft copy from Teledyne that we had made a copy for each member to look at today. Sue told everyone that this was the old lease that had been taken and revised, that she, the mayor and the city attorney had met with Teledyne representatives and this is the result of that. She had marked in the margin the pages where differences were noted and underlined them. She commented that this is basically a good, fair document and the only problem she found was that they wished to lease(as shown by their Exhibit A) more land than what is allowed as we are required by the FAA to retain a piece of property that could be used by a 2nd FBO if we get a request. Discussion followed on the lease and when all finished Sue said we would be responsible for fixing 2 roofs out there in the Ist and last hangar and this would have to be done before they move in. Mike Baugh asked where go from here. Sue said she would have to get with them and explain about piece of property we need to retain, then it would have to go back to San Diego again. No action was reuired. The board looked at revised future plan for the AIP and possible future application for funds from the FAA. Plan showed parallel runway to be built(6600 ft) and in order to do this we need to submit for land acquisition and fencing. All agreed it is a good plan and we need to proceed when the time is right. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
