Majors, Mrs. Welker, Mrs. Thames, Mr. Council, Mr. Waterson, Mr. Barge Turner, Mr. George Winberg Minutes of previous meeting approved as written. Mrs. Welker, speaking in behalf of the Adult & Tourist Recreation Program, gave a progress report of their activities for the year. Dr. Johnson moved to accept invitation from Adult & Tourist Recreation Committee to become a part of the City Recreation Program, Mr. Stipes seconded. Motion carried. Mr. Sarge Turner expressed his appreciation for work completed on the ballfields. A discussion of the Pirates Cove was led by George Winberg. Mr. Burton moved to table the request of the Pirates Cove. Mr. Chatwood seconded. Motion carried. Coach W. C. Majors reported on the progress of the Summer Recreation Program. Participation thus far in the Swimming program - 255; Baseball - 365; Tennis - 59; Girls program - 75; Colored program - 250. Mr. Shull reported that the Baldwin County Board of Education had consented to the use of the band hall in the Recreation Program. It was agreed that bills be sent to the sponsors of the Babe Ruth League., Dr. Johnson moved that the bills be approved, but in the future no bills be approved unless bought by the Recreation Director. Mr. Chatwood seconded. Motion carried. Mr. Majors reported umpire fees as follows: $3.00 for Little League 3.00 for Slow Pitch 5.00 for Baseball Umpires to be paid semi-monthly. Mr. Chatwood moved, Mr. Burton seconded to give $100.00 to the Fairhope Recreation Youth Workshop for materials. Motion carried. Mr. Stipes moved, Mr. Chatwood seconded that the following salaries be approved: Total for season (to be paid in / 3 David Wood 230.00 equal payments) Susan Barger 230.00 Bubby Sawyer 260.00 Greg Jones 200.00 David Chatwood 650.00 Don McKinzey 750.00 Eddie Nelson 400.00 Pat Hammett 400.00 Frank Kerns 900.00 Mary Dacus 450.00 Samuel Weeks 600.00 Matt Perryman 450.00 Total - $5520.00 All salaries listed above are to be paid on the 15th of each month. Motion carried. Mr. Burton recommended a diving board for the pier and the installa- tion of a telephone to be used by the lifeguards in case of an emergency.
