Stipes, Mr. Gordon K. Burton, Mr. D. T. Chatwood, Mayor R. C. Macon, Dr. R. H. Stine, Mr. R. Roy Reynolds, Mr. C. Be Niemeyer, Mr. W. C. Majors, Mr. George Dyson, Mr. Ack Moore, Mrs. Frances Olivier and 3 representatives from the Colored Community. Mr. Shull stated the purpose of the meeting was to discuss a future recreation program for the City of Fairhope. A general outline of City recreation plans - present and future was presented by Chairman Shull, Coach W. C. Majors, Recreation Director, discussed the Summer Program - personnel and courses to be offered. It was agreed that the regular meeting night of the Board be changed to the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Next regular meeting to be June 9. R Mr. Stipes moved that salaries for Summer Program personnel be set up as follows: Director: W. C. Majors: $1600.00 first payment May 1 - August 1, Coach Kerns - July and August All other employees will receive 2 equal payments starting July 1 - August 1. Mr. Chatwood seconded. Motion carried. Dr. Johnson moved that the Recreation Board approve the purchase of additional equipment for youth activities. Mr. Stipes seconded. Motion carried. Mr. Stipes moved, Mr. Burton seconded, that the bills be approved. Motion carried. Personnel for the Colored Program was discussed. The Chairman noted receipt of a letter from Eastern Shore Jr. Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Burton, Chairman of the Parks and Beach Division, made the following recommendations: 1. Restrooms need to be cleaned every day. 2. Police need to patrol the entire beach and park area all night. Dr. Johnson moved to adjourn. Motion carried. MillyyHHanby Secretary
