Mr. Stipes moved,
Mr.
Burton seconded
that minutes be approved
as recorded. Lotion
carried.
The financial statement was reviewed.
Mr. Shull reported that the following bids on equipment had been
received:
Thoss Sporting Goods 2404.45
Brannan Sporting Goods 2522.00
Atmore Office & School Supply 2682.39
Sportsman's Store 2799.25
The Secretary was asked to prepare letters of acknowledgement
to each of the above stores.
Dr. Johnson moved, Mr. Chatwood seconded that the Recreation
Board approve the low bid of Thoss Sporting Goods in the
amount of $ 2404.45. Motion carried.
A general discussion of the bills followed. Mr. Stipes moved,
Mr. Burton seconded that the bills be allowed. Motion carried.
It was suggested that a letter of thanks be sent to Mr. Jack
Kirk, Mr, George Dyson and all the City employees who partici-
pated in working on the ballfields.
A letter from members of American Legion Post 335 - Young St.
was read and placed on file. It was requested that the City
Attorney review the leases involving American Legion Post 335
and the City of Fairhope.
Three (3) applications for Colored Recreation Director were
discussed. No action.
Mr. Shull reported that he is working with Mr. W. C. McGowin
In the possibility of securing use of an additional building
on Morphy Avenue for the Recreation Program.
A request to resurface the tennis courts was delayed for the
present time.
A letter from Mr. John Robertson of Huffman Insurance Agency
re: insurance coverage for City Park System was read. The
Board agreed that several areas such as the pier, the beach,
and the Senior Citizens' building, which were not included in
Mr. Robertson's proposal, should be considered for insurance
coverage also. Mr. Shull agreed to meet with Mr. Robertson
concerning this.
Dr. Johnson moved, Mr. Chatwood seconded that a bill in the
amount of $20.00 for registration fees from Little League
Baseball, Inc. be approved. Motion carried.

Mr. G. K. Burton, Chairman of the Parks & Beaoh Division,
made the following observations:
(1) beaoh area needs general clean-up
(2) lighting system needs to be extended
(3) oonorete botings needed under each
table
(4) additional table spaoe needed
Mr. Stipes reported that an overall beaoh clean-up program
was in progress.
Mr. Chatwood announced preliminary plans for a Little League
Parade to be held on the 15th of May. Coaoh Majors agreed
to organize this.
The Chairman passed out a book entitled "Introduotion to
Community Recreation" to each member for their study.
Plans for restroom and conoession area at the Swimming Pool
and sketohes of future civio oenter were presented by Mr.
Shull. Approximate oost of restroom and oonoession area
estimated at 06.00 per square foot.
Mr. Stipes moved to adjourn. Mr. Burton seoonded. Motion
oarried.�
