HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-14-1964 Regular MeetingRECREATION BOARD February 14, 1964 4:00 P. M. City Hall Members present: Mr. Poser, Cotten and Bailey. Absent: Mr. Kamper and Wakefield. Guests: Mayor Schneider, Mr. Byrne, Mr. Harry Anderson, Mr. Johnny Ferguson, Mr. Connie Council, Mrs. Abrahamer, Mrs. Horne, Mrs. Thames, and Mr. Wes S trau l ey. Mr. Bailey moved, Mr. Cotten seconded to change the time of the meetings to 4:30 P. M.. Carried. The Board recognized Mr. Vies Strauley, iChamber of Commerce Manager, who spoke in behalf of a Tourst Bureau. It was generally agreed by the Board that a bureau of this type did not come under the Recreation Board's responsibility. Mr. Poser suggested that this item be added to the next City Council Agenda. Mr. Bailey agreed to write a letter to the City Council recommending the Tourist Bureau as a civic function. The minutes of the January 10, 1964 regular meeting were read and approved. Mr. Anderson submitted his monthly report. Results of the card census salaries for staff members, and supplies for the Summer 'ro ram were discussed. A copy of this report to be filed with these minutes. Mr. Poser sug ested that Mr. Anderson be authorized to proceed with qhe program as started. Mr. Anderson agreed to check the costs for a tennis back board and report to the Board. Mr. Schneider reported that work on the ballfields was well in the planning stage and would begin as soon as weather permitted. It was generally agreed that existing lights on the ball - fields should be used rather than purchasing new ones at this time. Mr. Bailey moved, Mr. Cotten seconded that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
