AIRPORT BOARD
August 16, 1963
Members present: Dr. Mullins, Mr. Lacey, and Mr. Byrne
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
Dr. Mullins noted that no word had been received from REA.
It was also noted that the contractor has cut the access
road to the Airport at no cost to the City. There is also
a possibility that the County will furnish 100 loads of
base clay.
Dr. Mullins noted that Miss Cannon met with the Board and
that her article appeared in the Sunday, August 19 edition
of the MOBILE PRESS REGISTER.
It was suggested that Mr. Byrne write a letter of commen-
dation to Miss Cannon.
NEW BUSINESS:
Dr. Mullins noted that the City has received the first
partial payment from the FAA in the amount of $14,814.35.
The Chairman introduced a letter and background information
from Mr. W. J. Given concerning the Base Operator Program.
Mr. Lacey suggested that a magazine ad in TRADER PLANE
might be good publicity.
Mr. Lacey suggested that Mr. T. J. Klumpp be contacted
concerning air transportation to Brookhaven. After such
flight arrangements have been made it was suggested that
a letter be sent to Atmore, Bay Minette, and Brookhaven
notifying them of the arrival day.
Mr. Lacey moved, Mr. Byrne seconded that the meeting be
adjourned. Carr i ed.
