HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-08-1993 Regular Meeting55 The City of Fairhope Airport Board met Monday, November 8, 1993 at 8:00 AM at the City Administration Building , 161 N. Section Street. Present: Chairman Sue Mason; members Andy Huggins, Mike Baugh, Robert Colling, Bill Payne The minutes were approved as written and a financial report was given. Sue discussed with the board the financial situation with Mr. Clark, our FBO, and the payments he had made for the past year. The board had made an agreement with him to defer part of his payments until the first of 1994 but he still has not kept up with his payments that were due. When we told him we would defer his payments we also asked him to come up with a payment plan and present it to us. We are still waiting for him to come with anything. Mrs. Mason asked Buzz Colling and Bill Payne to go out and talk with him and tell him that we had to have something back from him and the board set a meeting in two weeks(11/22) at 8:00 AM. Sue said we at least need to expect to get our debt payment out of him per month, and this is $5,000. Sue went on to say she has been approached by someone who is interested in rent- ing the southernmost hangar at the airport on a mid -range to long term basis and pending ramp and road access possibly basing 3-5 airplanes there with his own mechanic and own fuel. The board discussed further different possibilities in other people coming in, other operations or if we have to take back big building possibly renting that out. In any event, Buzz and Bill were asked to see if they could get something from him as to what he can pay, and what his situation might be. Sue mentioned that just when we thought all was going wrong with the possible airport project that we have learned that the program is alive again and in the southeast region we are number 1 on the list. She said that it would be a $600,000 grant and we would get half from the state but would have to come up with our portion. But we need to push forward with the project if money comes available. We had gotten a letter from George Garzon from the State office asking us to fill out a form for what we plan for the next 5 years at the airport. Sue said if no one had any objection she would just submit our pre -application requests. The board responded that that would be fine with them. There being no further business meeting was duly adjourned.
