HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-06-1998 Planning Commission Special Meeting MinutesThe Planning & Zoning Commission held a special meeting Thursday, August 6, 1998 at the City Administration Building, 161-N. Section Street Present: Chairman Larry Green; members Dick Charles Thad Ingram, Debbie Quinn, William Richmond The meeting was being held tonight to discuss final approval for Kensington subdivision, 12 lots located off of Fairhope Avenue. They had hoped to get approval for paving at 8/10/98 City Council meeting. This had appeared on the agenda but had been carried over from the regular August 3 meeting as no one appeared to address the concerns of the neighbors who were present and who had reported water problems that were a direct result of the development of this subdivision (see 8/3/98 minutes) Bob reported to the commission that he had met with the engineer, owner and contractor this date and that they had mitigated his concerns and he is satisfied. Joel Coleman of the engineering firm Rester & Coleman showed a drawing where they propose to cut a 6 ft depression so the water will drain off and run to Fairhope Avenue. Mr. Watkins, a neighbor from Eastgate, was asked if this plan was satisfactory to him and he said yes, if it works as planned. It was pointed out that Ms. Mahan is willing to work with them and solve this in any way it may take. That she has a reputation for doing quality work and complete cooperation. Bob reported he had received the test results and that everything else fine. Dick Charles questioned whether lots 3 & 4 would have something than the grpss swale and Ms. Mahan answered that she is the owner and builder and if anythingCecessary down the road she will take care of it. Further discussion led to Thad Ingram moving to give final approval subject to these improvements being completed, Debbie Quinn seconded and motion carried unanimously. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
