The Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met Monday, July 13, 1992
at 8:00 A.M. in the City Administration Office.
Present: Chairm.a- Sue Mason, members jeanet.te PLIckett, Robert
Coiling, Mike Baugh and Andy Huggins
The minutes of the previous meeting were considered and approved
as written.
The status of the Pete Douglas lease was discussed. Since the
board had turned it over to the City Council Committee for further
action, Sue asked Jeanette if there was anything they wished to
report to the board or any other action that had been taken.
Jeanette said there was nothing at this time. Sue said they had
gone out again and walked over the land and there is no question
about the correct amount of land useage.
Sue also reported that there are 3 different entities interested in
the land for the corporate hangars but until we settle the Douglas
issue we cannot consider their proposals. It was further reported
that Mr. Douglas is behind in his monthly payments. Further
discussion led to a motion by Andy Huggins to write a memo to
the mayor that the board has been notified he is 3 months behind
in his lease payments making him in default, but that the matter
has been turned over to the council for their disposition, and
requests that the council take appropriate legal notification or take
appropriate legal action. Robert Coiling seconded and motion
carried unanimously.
Sue made the observation that if we give up any more land we would
lose both corporate hangars. M.L. Aust was present and talked to
the board about what had happened in the years past and how the
T-hangars had gotten flip-flopped from the original plan and Jack
Boykin coming in and the supposed placement of his hangar.
Sue also reported the inventory of the airport after Dreadnought
left and the shortages we found. She said Mr. Clark had asked
for a re -bid and she agreed and he came back with $27,500 and
that the Mayor was handling this.
She further reported the letter Mr. Clark had sent to Mr. Statler
telling him that his tie -down would not be re-newed and that he
was asked to remove his vehicles.
There being no further business meeting was duly adjourned.
