HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-27-1989 Planning Commission Special Meeting MinutesThe Planning & Zoning Commission of the City of Fairhope met in a
special meeting Monday, February 27, 1989 at 5:30 p.m. jointly with
the Fairhope City Council at the City Municipal Complex, 161 N. Section
Street.
Present: Chairman Richard Sanderson; members Cindy McBrearty,
Tim Kant, David Ed Bishop, James P. Nix, Maxwell Killoch,
William Richmond. Zoning Official Robert Lunsford and
Secretary Betty Rivenbark were also present
Mayor Nix called the meeting to order and turned the meeting over to
Chairman Sanderson.
Mr. Sanderson related that we were holding a public hearing tonight
jointly with the City Council to consider amendments to the Zoning
Ordinanceon signs and landscaping. That this a culmination of over two
years work. Mr. Sanderson asked Mr. Lunsford to briefly explain
what the revisions involved. He went over the changes (comparative
attached to minutes) . At this time Mr. Sanderson said that the floor
was now open for discussion pro or con. Mrs Roberta Billie came forth
and asked for a clarification of shrubs on street corners, blind spots. It was
explained that they would be placed back from the street. No others spoke.
At this time Maxwell Killoch moved to approve the amendments as written
and so recommend approval of same to the City Council(for both sign
ordinance and landscaping ordinance). Cindy McBrearty seconded. Tim
Kant brought up that he wished to recommend under Section 70.143 Permit
Procedures under certificate of occupancy part (2) that "and/or Registered
Landscape Designer" be added along with certification by a landscape
architect and/or landscape engineer. Mr Sanderson asked Mr. Killoch
if he would accept this amendment to his motion. Mr. Killoch replied
yes and Mrs. McBrearty accepted amendment to her second.
Mr. Sanderson then told the Mayor the Commission wished to recommend appr
to the City Council of the amendments to the Zoning Ordinance on the
sign and landscaping portions. He also wished to commend Cindy McBrearty
for her hard work and many hours she labored to put the amendments
together.
The planning and zoning meeting was duly adjourned and regular Council
Meeting resumed.
