HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-24-1987 Regular MeetingThe Planning 8 Zoning Commission of the City of Fairhope met September 24, 1987 at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street at 5:00 P.M. The purpose of the meeting being to send input from this body to M.L. Risher, Division Engineer, State Highway Department regarding four-laning of Highway 98 to Foley, Project No. DE-0019(801) . Present: Chairman Maxwell Killoch; members James P. Nix, Richard Sanderson, Zoning Enforcement Officer Robert Lunsford and Secretary Betty Rivenbark A resolution had been worked up expressing concerns of Planning Commission and on motion by Richard Sanderson, seconded by James P. Nix and unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted: R E S 0 L U T 1 0 N WHEREAS, the Alabama Highway Department is in the process of leveloping plans for Project No, DE-0019(801 ), an improvement of J.S. Highway 98 as a multi -lane emergency evacuation route, extending rom Alabama Highway '104 South and East to Foley, and;, WHEREAS, the Fairhope Planning Commission fully' concurs that . he proposed project is wise, expedient and in'- the `Public interest; nd; WHEREAS,,.the Fairhope Planning Commission pledges its wn and solicits the public's support and assistance to the Highway iepartment in execution of the plan, and F ' p project; NOW, THEREFORE, BEIT RESOLVED by the Fairhope 'Planning commission as follows: 1. That the Alabama Highway Depar`tmei t be requested to ursue the project as rapidly as practicable. ' 2. That the proposed highway from Alabama Hwy. 104 to the outh Corporate Limits of Fairhope be designed and built as 5-lane rban type in order to require least acquisition of new right-of-way, voiding the increased expense and displacement of homes and businesses ,hich would doubtless accompany major right-of-way acquisition. 1 3. That a copy of this resolution be sent to Mr. M.L. Risher, revision Engineer at the State Highway Department. L ADOPTED this the 24th day of September, 1987. Fairhope Planning Commission Maxwell G.
