May 2, 1983.
Present: Roy White, Cecil Pitman, James P. Nix, Cindy
McBrearty, Jack Kirk, Robert Mason, John Parker and Don
Pruitt, Consultant
The minutes of the April 4, 1983 meeting were approved on
motion by John Parker, seconded by Cecil Pitman and unanimously
carried.
At this time Mr. White read a letter from Theodore Beiser asking
that the public hearing on a rezone request from R-1 to R-4
property located on Edwards Avenue and Westley Street be with-
drawn at this time.
The public hearing on Mrs. Clyde Morris rezone request from
R-2 to R-4 for the property located at 55 S. Bayview was held.
Lorena Gregorius spoke for Mrs. Morris remarking that Mrs.
Morris wished to turn this into a duplex, live in one half and
rent the other half out. The easement running along the side
of the property was discussed. It is thought that the church
is the only one using it at this time and that it is not dedicatee
so it would be private and between the property owners regarding
use. Mr. Allen Troupe addressed the Commission regarding conform-
ance to rules and regulations and he was assured that no permits
would be issued unless all requirements are met. All questions
satisfactorily answered, Cecil Pitman recommended that this be
passed on to the City Council with the Commission's approval of
the requested R-4 zoning request. Cindy McBrearty 2nd and motion
carried unanimously.
The Church of Christ brought their site plan approval for review
The spokesman mentioned that they were planning a building that
would house classroom, auditorium for worship and fellowship
with auditorium seating about 200 people. John Parker offered
advice that they plan with buffer in consideration of the residen-
tial property North & South of them and they back up to the exper-
imental station. that they consider capacity and plan parking.
Bob commented that based on the size of area the number of plan-
ned parking spaces are adequate, the landscaping was discussed
with a natural barrier being on the North and South. Further
discussion led to John Parker making motion to pass on to Build-
ing Official nothing at fault with plan presented at this time.
Jack Kirk seconded and motion passed unanimously.
There was at this time a discussion held on a request by Charles
Mixon(who was not present) to open up Boone Lane from the North
side of Pecan to gain access to a piece of property. A petition
was presented by neighbors in this area protesting this request.
Robert Mason moved as there was no one present to present the
matter that we deny request, John Parker seconded and motion
carried unanimously. It was suggested putting a cul-de-sac
from the Pecan Street side.
The Board accepted for advertisement for a public hearing at
the next meeting a rezone request from Julio Corte from R-5 & R-1
change to B-2 East side of Greeno between Edwards & Fairhope Ave.
