HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-18-1980 Special MeetingThe Planning & Zoning Commission of the City of Fairhope met for a special meeting on the 18th of August, 1980 at 5:00 p.m. at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, for the considera- tion of a building permit application from Thomas Hospital. Those members present: Chairman Leona Newman; E. Jack Kirk, James P. Nix, Roy White, Jack Stipes, John Parker, Pierce Frederick Bob Young of the hospital addressed the Commission members. He remarked that this was phase I of the expansion project, an addition to the West side which would house new surgery and radiology facilities. A question came up about the way the new addition would affect the parking. Mr. Nix said he did not think parking was a problem at this stage of the construction. Mr. Sam Dyson addressed the Commission and remarked that the hospital owns 20 acres of land at this site and that they were using only 5 acres na,7, but felt sure they could do whatever the Commission waAts as far as the parking is concerned. That the main thing that needed to be remembered at this time, is they are fighting a time element and need to get the construction started. Mr. Stipes moved that we grant the permit as requested. Roy White seconded and motion carried unanimously. There u,,Tas a discussion by the members on what might be necessary in the future as to widening the roads, where the traffic might be directed, and the what the plans call for by hospital.
