The following members were absent; E. Jack Kirk, John Parker, Leona

The Mitchell Corporation represented by J.W. Rayborn, contractor, and
1k. Hunter, designer for the Mitchell Company, resubmitted an application
for a building permit to construct a building addition to the Fairhope
Shopping Center located at the southeast corner of Fairhope Avenue and
Green Road to be used by the South Central Bell Telephone Co. This
application had been presented at the regular meeting of the Planning
and Zoning Commission held July 10, 1978. It was decided at that time
that the proposal failed to comply with the off-street parking and
landscaping requirements of the Zoning Ordinance. Mr. Rayborn and Mr.
Hunter were told they could present this application again at the special
meeting.
After consideration it was decided that the parking spaces as shown did
comply with the requirements of the City and that if the Mitchell Co.
agreed to add trees to their landscaping plans and plant some small plants
on the South side of the building there was no reason not to grant the
application. The Mitchell Co. indicated their willingness to comply.
MOTION was made by Mayor Nix, seconded by Pierce Frederick to grant a
building permit. Motion carried.
Dr. Workman submitted an application on behalf of Cecil Pitman for a
building permit. After discussion it was suggested by Dr. Workman that
this request be carried over to the regular meeting. The Commission
members agreed.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
