The Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met April 8, 1991 at the City Adminis-
ration building, 161 N. Section Street at 8:00 A.M.
Present: Chairman Sue Mason, members Jeanette Puckett, Mike Baugh,
Robert Coiling, Secretary Betty Rivenbark
The minutes of the February meeting were considered and approved as written.
The secretary gave a financial report, stating there was $13,137.49 in the
account as of this date.
Ms. Mason told the board that Mr. Douglas had picked up his lease some 6 weeks
ago and left word that he would be taking it to his attorney for review. That
we have not received any word from him since then. The Board discussed what
they thought would be the best way to handle this and it was suggested sending
him a letter stating a date that the lease would commence(May 1) and that he has
until that time to respond and pay his rent or we would assume he is no longer
interested in the property and can solicit other inquiries and so inform the council
that he is no longer interested. This was put in the form of a motion by Robert
Coiling, seconded by Jeanette Puckett and unanimously carried.
It was reported that the fire marshall, Tom Odom, had been out to the airport
and installed 4 of the fire extinguishers but because Fairhope Aero did not have
access to the other 4 T-hangars(they are suppose to have a key) that the rest
did not get installed. Discussion led to a motion to buy 8 good locks that have
been keyed with a master key for Fairhope Aero to keep and so inform the T-
hangar renters. Robert Coiling moved to purchase the locks Mike Baugh seconded
and motion carried unanimously.
Robert Coiling reported that he had tried to get in touch with Mr. Griemel over
his past due tie -down rent but has been unsuccessful. It was suggested getting
with Fairhope Aero and seeing what the status is at this time.
Under new business Mrs. Mason reported she had a request from the SCCA about
the possibility of organizing sports car races at the Fairhope Municipal Airport.
Even though they are well insured it was decided that problems would exist if
tried to do at Fairhope. They were using an abandoned airport in Florida until
stopped. She further asked if anyone knew of any other strips available that
they might could be used. No one did.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
