Monday, June 5, 2023
Present: Chad Bartz, Mandy Bezeredi, Morgan Slay, Josh Turner, Stephanie Hollinghead/City liaison
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m.
Minutes from the meeting on April 3, 2023 were approved
Stephanie Hollinghead gave a brief update on:
• The Art Alley Project: The project is scheduled to be completed sometime in August 2023.
• Discussed the 15 minute parking and provided an updated map as to the locations of the
marked spots. Committee is aware and there were no further recommendations or requests for
15-minute parking spots.
• Want to start pushing this information out on social media for community to be aware. Now
that the spots are clearly marked, enforcement can resume. Committee committed the spots
looked good.
Josh Turner:
• The loading zones have not really been used at all. He was close to the Broken Egg and noticed
delivery trucks still parked in the middle of the street.
• Committee agreed there needed to be signs for 6am – 4pm, Monday through Friday.
Also, communication sent out explaining the loading/unloading zones. Maybe send out
a letter from the city to the Merchants to help get that information to Vendors.
• Suggested that we should test out the few spots we have before adding additional.
Once we add more, it takes away from normal parking downtown.
Morgan Slay :
• In reference to the loading/unloading zones: We have the 2, has there been any progress on the
one in front of Tamera’s? Stephanie Hollinghead said there was not an update but there was a
Street and Traffic Committee Meeting schedule for the next day and that project would be
talked about there with conversation about the making of a ONEWAY STREET on PINE ST.
• Inquired about the development of Ordinances to address the use of the marked spots.
Chad Bartz:
• Asked for the Loading/Unloading Zones Signs
• Recommendation to send communication about parking out on the City New Letter
• Spoke about coming up with a plan to communicate the parking garage existence once the Arts
Alley Project is completed. Promoting the new Arts Alley Project is complete.
Bryan Flowers:
• Recommended discussing with merchants setting up different delivery times for the location in
front of the police department
• Recommended communication concerning parking be pushed out on all City APPS
Mandy Bezeredi:
• Advised that Coast Alabama is planning on adding parking space on their campus, which will
open up some parking on the south end of School St. This will be about 30 to 40 spaces that will
be available to help with parking issues on weekends and holidays.
• Recommended communication concerning 15-minute parking sent out through utility bills
Committee discussed to get a list of Food and Beverage Businesses so Committee Members can help
facilitate information to the Merchants to better organize deliveries to help with loading and unloading
areas.
Committee members made a motion to amend the Ordinance and/or Parking Authority By-Laws to add
the ability to remove any Committee member who misses 2 unannounced consecutive meetings. All
were in favor, and no one opposed.
Stephanie Hollinghead confirmed with Chad Bartz he received the emailed information concerning his
position as liaison for the Planning and Zoning Board. He confirmed.
Next meeting was set for 8:00 am on July 24th at the Fairhope Museum of History
The meeting adjourned at 9:06 am.
