THE FAIRHOPE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
A special called meeting of the Fairhope Planning and Zoning
Commission met May 19, 1975 at S:OOP.M. at the City Administration
Building , 387 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, Alabama , with Chairman
John Parker presiding.
The following members were present: Mayor James P. Nix; i1r. Jack Kirk;
Mr. Chester Billie; Mr. Harford Field, Mr. Cecil Pitman; and Mr. Barney
Shull. {
Members Absent : Mr. Ray Gibson; and Dr. Pierce Fredrick.
The first item brought up for discussion was the remodeling of the
old A & W Root -Beer Stand on Greeno Road by the First National Bank of Fairhope
for a drive -up branch of the bank.
Mayor James P. Nix moved to approve the building plans for the drive -up branch
of the First National Bank of Fairhope at the old A & W Root -Beer site.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Harford Field. Motion carried.
A discussion followed on the Zoning District Map which is to be revised and
sent into the Alabama Developmental Office by the deadline of June 30, 1975.
Chairman John Parker stated that there would be a joint public hearing on the
now zoning ordinance with the City Council on the 23rd of June, 1975.
The following revisions wave made to the Zoning District Map:
1. That the Berglin Property be changed from R-3 to R-5 zone.
2. That the property from the Welker place to the Gulf Station be
zoned B-3B.
3. That the vast side of Mobile Avenue from Foreman Realty thru the
Moyer's property be zoned R-2. 1,
4. The S/W corner of Pecan and Section Street be changed from R-3 to M-1.
5. The area called Bast of the Sin be a combination of B-2 and R-3.
6. The Corte frontage on Greeno Road from Agpes Wagner's property be
zoned R-4,

7. Holly Drive be changed from R-2 to R-1.
8. Mr. Bryd Moore's property be zoned R-3 from the area on the east side of
Greeno Road at Edward's Avenne.
9. That the Trailer Park area be left as R-1.
10. That the intersection of Section Street and the Robertsdale Road be
zoned R-3.
The meeting adjourned at 7:00 P.M. with the revising of the Zoning District
Map to continue at the next regular meeting of the Fairhope Planning and
Zoning Commission.
