HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-06-1974 Regular MeetingFairhope Planning and Zoning Commission met in regular session Monday, August 6, 1974, ac the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, with the following members present: Chairman John Parker, Mayor James P. Nix, Sam Box, Jack Kirk, Ray Gibson, Chester Billie, Harford Field and Cecil Pitman., Dr. Pierce Frederick was absent. Motion by Mayor Nix seconded by Mr. Box that the minutes of the July 1, 1974 meeting be approved. Motion carried. First on the agenda was the permit for the subdivision of Tanglewood. Claude Arnold and Mrs. Rockwell of the Fairhope Single Tax Colony•were present: Mr. Arnold referred to the letter explaining the plans in detail sent to the Commission. Don Pruitt recommended the final approval of the Commission. Motion by Ray Gibson seconded by Harford Field that final approval be given for Tanglewood Subdivision and Dr. Frederick be authorized to sign the plat as Secretary. Motion carried. 'r.axt on the agenda was the building permit for North American Telephone Company. Motion by Cecij Pitman seconded by Mayor Nix that the permit be granted. Motion carried. Mayor Nix brought to the attention of the Commission incongruities in B-3A and B-3B requirements of the Zoning Ordinance, concerning off-street parking. It was decided that the new Section 71 and 72 clarifications prepared'by Mr. Field would stand as written for internal use until such time that the ordinance could be changed officially. Motion by Cecil Pitman seconded by Ray Gibson that the Commission continue to follow the .% past format and procedure of the Planning Commission meetings being divided into an open meeting monthly available for public attendance followed by a closed meeting of the Commission members for discussion and vote on the issues at hand. The results of all official actions in such closed meetings to be included in the minutes of public record, the closed discussion to be in the absence of reporters and any other public -person to allow the most thorough and uninhibited debate of the issues prior to official action or recommendation to the City Council. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by John Parker to have a study session on August 22, 1974, seconded by Cecil Pitman. Notion caerted. Meeting adjourned. _ i'
