HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-01-2012 Planning Commission MinutesOctober L 2012 Planning Commission Minutes The Planning Commission met Monday, October 1st. 2012 at 5:00 PM at the City Municipal Complex. 161 N. Section Street in the Council Chambers. Present: Lee Turner, Chairperson; George Roberds, Vice-Chair: Tim Kant; Jennifer Fidler: Bob Clark; Jean Wilson; Gary Moore: Jonathan Smith, Planning and Building Director; and Emily Boyett, Secretary Absent: Debbie Quinn; Dick Charles; and Nancy Milford, Planner Chairman Lee Turner called the meeting to order at 5 :00 PM and announced the meeting is being recorded. The minutes of the September 41\ 2012 meeting were considered and Bob Clark moved to accept the minutes as written and was 2 nd by Tim Kant. Motion carried with abstentions by Jennifer Fidler, Gary Moore, and Jean Wilson. Motion carried with abstentions by Jean Wilson, Gary Moore, and Lee Turner. UR 12.09 Request of Southern Light for an 11.52.11 utility review and approval of the proposed underground installation of approximately 7,586 linear feet of fiber optic cable for The Fairhope K-1 Center, Andru Bramblett. The project will run along Scenic 98, Fels A venue, and Equity Street connecting cable between the Grand Hotel and the Fairhope K-1 Center. Jonathan Smith gave the staff report saying the proposed project will begin on Scenic 98 at Molokai Lane and head north to Fels A venue, turning east on Fels A venue and ending at Equity Street. The proposed installation will consist of7,566 linear feet of directional boring, 20 linear feet of trenching, and placement of four ( 4) handholes. Staff recommendation is to approve conditional upon the following: I) The applicant shall comply with the minimum requirements as stated by the City of Fairhope Building Official. the Code Enforcement Officer, and the Electrical, Gas, and Water and Sewer Superintendents in the staff report 2) Any mechanical equipment should be painted Munsell green. Andru Bramblett of Southern Light was present for the applicant He stated Southern Light agrees to adhere to the recommendations and conditions. Mr. Moore stated concerns with the distances labeled on the drawings and wanted clarification that the work \vould be restricted to the right-of-way and not on private property. He stated in several locations it appeared the installation would be very close to the houses. Mr. Bramblett stated the work would only be in the right-of-way. Mr. Clark asked who certifies that they are not on private property. Mr. Kant and Mr. Bramblett stated it is the responsibility of the contractor. Jean Wilson moved to accept the staff recommendation is to approve conditional upon the following: 1) The applicant shall comply with the minimum requirements as stated by the City of Fairhope Building Official, the Code Enforcement Officer. and the Electrical, Gas, and Water and Sewer Superintendents in the staff report. 2) Any mechanical equipment should be painted Munsell green. Jennifer Fidler 2nd the motion and the motion carried unanimously. October I Planning Commission Minutes Having no further business. George Roberds moved to adjourn and was by Jean Wilson. Motion passed unanimously and the meeting was duly adjourned at 5: 11 PM.
