HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-20-2006 Planning Commission Special Meeting MinutesThe Planning & Zoning Commission of the City of Fairhope met in a special meeting with the Fairhope City Council on December 20, 2006 at 4:00 PM Present: Jean Wilson, Chairman, Ed Brinson, Dick Charles, Gary Moore, Lee Turner, Tim Kant, Cecil Christenberry. Gregg Mims, Nancy Milford, and Jonathan Smith from the Planning Department. All City Council members were present. Absent: Dan McCrory, Bob Clark. Gregg Mims opened the meeting saying this is a work session with Neel- Schaffer and the information presented tonight was not the final report. Neel - Schaffer was hired to do a study on transportation, traffic and drainage, and that they are hoping to get feedback from the City Council and Planning Commission on this report and the three areas that Gorman Schaffer of Neel Schaffer was tasked with. Gorman Schaffer addressed the members and introduced his team: Vern Stuart, Chris Sellers, Tom Allen Jonathan Kyser and Marybeth Daughtry. (A book of the compiled results of the studies was presented to council and planning commission members) Jonathan Kyser presented the transportation, traffic report and addressed each area they were charged with studying and made recommendations for each: 1. Quail Creek Drive-SR 181 2. Wal-Mart at SR 181/Fairhope Ave. intersection 3. Fairhope Avenue and Greeno Rd(US HWY98 4. Fairhope Avenue and Mobile Street – Magnolia Ave. 5. Fairhope Avenue and Ingleside Street 6. Fairhope Avenue and Bishop Road 7. Section Street and Oak Street 8. Fels Avenue(from Section Street to Mobile Street) 9. Magnolia Avenue (from Section Street and Fairhope Ave) 10. Section Street: Morphy Ave to Magnolia St. 11. Section Street: Magnolia Street to Oak Street 12. Section Street: Oak Street to Bayou Drive Also discussed were four projects to be included in the growth evaluation: 1. Wal-Mart Supercenter; 2. Fly Creek residential development; 3. Fairhope Falls residential development; 4. Quail Creek phases 5 & 6. Tom Allen presented a power point presentation on Stormwater Management . Presentation available in file. There being no further business meeting was duly adjourned at 6:45 PM.
