Commission met in Regular session P.M., at the City Administration Present: Cha i•rma n Parker, members: Arnold, Box, Bung, Frederick, Gates, Kirk, Pitman, Macon. Visitors: Robert George, Mrs. Carrie T. Smith, Fred Smith. Minutes of previous meeting approved as written. There was no old business. New Business: Application of Mrs. Carrie T. Smith to rezone from R-2 to R-3, lots 29 3, 4, and 5 of replat of lots 1, 21 3, 5, 69 7 and 8 of Central Park,. and lots 8, 9 and 10 of Ettles S/D, recorded in map book 3, page 112, of the Probate Records of Baldwin County, Alabama, 154 South School St. Fred Smith explained that Mrs. Smith wishes to add a small apartment on the rear of her home; that her property adjoins business property and that there is a need for apartments near the center of town. Dis- cussion led to need for high density zoning near the C.B.D. in the older residential section. Motion by Mr. 'Macon, seconded by Mr. Bung, that theFairhope Planning and Zoning Commission advertise for: -public hearing the rezoning to R-3, all residential land in the area bounded on the East by School Street on the North by Morphy Avenue, on the West by Equity Street and on the South by South line of Section 17 and 18- T 6 S. R 2 E.(Nichols Avenue to Summit Street and extension of line of Nichols Ave., to Equity St.) Park Terrace #4, Mr. Pitman explained that due to an engineering error he wished to change the dimensions of Lots 10, 11, 12, Block 4, Park Terrace Unit 4. Motion by Mr. Macon, seconded by Mr. Frederick that Mr. Pitman be permitted to change dimensions and continue construction on the afore- mentioned lotswith the understanding that a corrected plat be presented for final approval at the March meeting of the Planning Commission. Motion carried unanimously. Chairman Parker opened the meeting to a discussion on the desirability of the Commission cooperating with the Chamber of Commerce a forum where citizens could express opinions on the upgrading of the C.B.D., with sugges- tions as to private action that could be taken. Discussion was that Board members should consider idea and report opinions at next meeting. Secretary was requested to notify by letter realtors, engineers and others with an interest in subdivision regulations when new regulations are av- ailable. There being no further business upon motion seconded and passed, meeting adjourned. I. Eloise T.
