The Fairhope Planning and Zoning Commission met in regular
session Monday, February B, 1971;at 5:00 P.M., at City Hall.
Present: Chairman Parker, members Box, Gates, Kirk, Bung,
Pitman, Arnold. Absent: Members Frederick and Macon.
Visitors: Mr. Dyson and Mr. Bateman.
Minutes of previous meeting approved as read.
New Business:
Application of Lee D. McGrue and Douglas Nichols to rezone
from R-2 to B-1, plat of land beginning 60 feet from Norths
east corner of Young and Nichols Sts., running 63' N and S
on East side of Young Street and 150' East and West on North
side of Nichols Street. The block directly south and * 300'
of block directly west are zoned 8-1; the lots adjoining on
North and South of this lot on Young Street are presently
used for non -conforming business.
Motion by Mr. Pitman, seconded by Mr. Gates that the Fair -
hope Planning and Zoning Commission recommend to the City
Council the rezoning from R-2 to B-1 an area running 300'
East and West on North side of Nichols Street and 300' North
and South on East side of Young Street, waiving public hear-
ing by the Zoning Commission but notifying subject property
owners of the proposed rezoning. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Gates requested reading of certain parts of Commission
minutes of meeting on January A, 1968 concerning Fairwood #15
subdivision which were read.
Chairman then threw meeting open for discussion of aims and
priorities on planning and zoning.using letter from planning
consultant to Mayor as guideline r One decision reached was
need for meeting with the City Council and representatives
from the Rggional Planning Commission. The Chairman agreed to
set up such meeting at a convenient date after March loth and
requested members to give further study to the problem prior
to thexpznbiemxpsimzxtmxsvckxmsatim9. such meeting.
There being no further business, meeting adjourned.
