HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-05-1968 Regular MeetingFAIRHOPE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION Regular meeting, Monday, August 5, 1968 5:00 p.m., City Hall Present: Chairman Fredericks, members Bagnell, Niemeyer, Macon, Pitman and Arnold Absent: Members Bung, Gates, Spader Visitors: Mr. Bateman, Dyson, Green. Robert Green presented 3rd preliminary plan "Deep Tree Forest Sub- division"; also letter from Baldwin Compat health Department approv- ing midividual septic tank disposal systems for all lots in said subdivision. Motion by Mr. Macon, seconded by Mr. Bagnell that the Fairhope Planning and Zoning Commission give preliminary approval to the entire plat and final approval on lot 19 Block A and Lots 1 through 69 Block B. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Bateman commended Mr. Dyson, Building inspector, on progress being made on building condition map. Motion by Mr. Bagnell, seconded by Mr. Niemeyer that discussion of Planning program for coming year be placed on agenda for September meeting. Motion carried. Due to Labor Day, September meeting will be held on Sept. 9,1968. There being no further business, meeting adjourned. Eloise T. Wilson PLAN OF ACTION CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA AUGUST, 1968 L 1. Investigate the Model Cities Program. 2. Create long range housing code compliance program. 3. Review the Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations and Major Street Plan. 4. Meet with Park & Recreation Board and School Board to establish projections. 5. Adopt a Mobile Home & Travel Trailer Park Ordinance. 6. Adopt by-laws for the Planning Commission. 7. Create subcommittees: a. Public Relations- Liasion Committee b. Education, Health, Recreation C. Traffic, College, Finance d. workable Program, Regional Coordination 8. Create historical preservation committee, discuss with garden clubs. 9. Suggest 1968-69 Capital Budget to City Council. a. Overall subsurface drainage program. b. Master Plan for Street Lighting. c . Acquisition of 1 or 2 park lands. 10. Adopt procedures for Planning Commission. 11. Series of articles in newspaper regarding City Planning and activities of the Planning Commission. 12. Formulate organizational chart for City. 13. Discuss City Beautification Project. 14. Schedule 4 programs before: a. City Council, Downtown Merchants b. Negro High School c. White High School d. One Civic Group 15. Schedule supper meeting for Planning Commission. 16. Assist merchants with Central Business District Study and publicize results. 17. Prepare a Central Business District Study. a. Off-street parking. b. Retail space projection. C. Professional space projection. d. Wholesale space projection.
