HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-03-1967 Regular Meeting• FAIRHOPE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION Regular Meeting, Monday, July 3, 1967, 5:00 p.m., City*Hall Present: Members Macon, Bagnell, Pitman, Niemeyer, Bung, Arnold and Gates. Absent: Chairman Frederick, member Spader. In absence of Chairman, Mr. Macon presided. Reading of minutes of previous meeting omitted. Old Business: Plat of A. M. Gates subdivision Fairmont #1 (formerly Fairbaven #1) presented for preliminary approval. On advise of Chairman, Mr. Gates changed set back shown from Ul..-to• 3,51, and added word OCouxj.Y.Jro "Woodlane" on cul de sac. Motion by Mr. Pitman, seconded by Mr. Niemeyer that preliminary approval be given to "Fairmont #1". Motion carried unanimously. There being no further business, meeting adjourned. Eloise T. Ruge, Purchasing Agent, be authorized to advertise for bids for repairs on Caterpillar tractor. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Stipes that Mr. Kirk be authorized to purchase load of pipe from American Cast Iron Pipe Company under our present contract. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Gaston that Mr. Niemeyer, Executive Assistant, be authorized to attend City Managers Convention in New Orleans, October 8-12. Motion carried. Public hearing on proposed Ordinance No. 379 having been held and all protest noted, Councilman Reynolds moved, Councilman Stine seconded that Ordinance No. 379 be adopted as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission and introduced at the regular meeti of June 12, 1967. Upon being put to vote the following vote was recorded: For: Councilmen: Spader, Reynolds, Stipes, Gaston and Stine. Against: None. Motion carried and Ordinance duly adopted. Public hearing on proposed Ordinance No. 380 having been held and < protest noted, Councilman Reynolds moved, Councilman Gaston second) that Ordinance No. 380 be adopted as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission and introduced at the regular meeting of June 12, 1967- Upon being put to vote the following vote was recorded: For: Councilmen; Spader, Reynolds, Stipes, Gaston and Stine. Against: None. Motion carried and Ordinance duly adopted. Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that the City employ the firm of Thornton, Farish and Gauntt, Inc. as Fisca: Agent under same proposal as originally made with the City. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Stipes that the following Resolution be adopted: RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED, that in so much as the City desires to con- struct a new Pier and other recreational facilities on the City's Beach Front area, and the Bureau o.f Outdoor Recreation has matchin money for this purpose, the City hereby instructs the City Enginee to proceed to apply for said assistance and report progress at the next meeting of the City Council. E. Gaston, Jr. be appointed to Municipal Airport Board for a two year period. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Stipes that the request to appoint a Medical Clinic Board be tabled until the next regular meeting of the City Council. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Stipes that the request of the Jaycees to hold 4th of July celebration on the beach be granted. Motion caRRIED. a. Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Stine that the following Resolution be adopted. Motion ca rried. RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAri that when the presently proposed sewers are installed in the area Colonial Acres, that a line will be extended to serve the Fairhope Swimming Pool and that a connection will be made as soon as said sewer becomes available. Motion by Councilman Reynolds seconded by Councilman Stipes that the bill of C. A. Mattingly be approved for payment subject to approval by the Recreation Board. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that the bills be approved for payment. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Reynolds that the meeting adjourn. Councilman Gaston brought up for discussion the motion of special meeting held on June 9, 1967 to purchase the Fairhope Casino and property in accordance with the condemnation price of p24,750.00 set by the Courts. Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Reynolds that the meeting adjourn.
