Prior Meeting Minutes reviewed. Approved by Chris Riley, 2nd Katie Bolton.
Member discussion: Chris Knight will be leaving after the December 2023 meeting. Johnny Prewit has
been approved by committee to replace Chris Knight.
City Employee discussion: Richard Johnson confirmed that he is our City Representative. Bill Hall will ask
the Mayor to appoint Nicole Love to act as our city employee representative.
Mobile Street “sharrows” - Rosalie has been in contact with Richard Johnson regarding signage. Katie
Bolton to work with Richard Johnson on signage verbiage, location and installation timeline. Katie will
report back to committee.
New Sidewalk Projects - Richard Johnson discussed both the Blue Island and Fairwood Projects. Blue
Island, 50% drawings submitted, sidewalk to be installed on the West Side and will be 6 feet in width.
Spring 24’ bid, Summer 24’ install. Fairwood will have a center/ median 5 foot sidewalk. Per Richard
Johnson there will be a tree assessment and heavy landscaping plan involved in the Fairwood project.
School Bicycle Workshops - it was determined that Katie and Dione are overlapping in efforts to move
forward with this project. Before anything will be moving forward they will be in discussion with School
Superintendent, Eddie Tyler to get his approval and support. Once that is gained the next step is to get
the majority of school principals onboard and before moving to next steps. The Baldwin County Trail
Blazers maybe able to fund. Katie and Dione will be working together moving forward and will brief
committee as needed.
Bike Rack Installation - there are 9 total racks to be installed as soon as possible by Richard Johnson. He
has the list. If any additional racks are needed, Katie’s non profit can purchase additional racks.
Bike Repair Station - still at a TBD status per committee and City.
Fairhope Avenue Crosswalk - Richard Johnson discussed that intersection would be retrofitted to
incorporate a new crossing button to protect pedestrians from the left turn arrow. This will be competed
by the lighting of the trees in November.
Section Crosswalks - Brian will remind Richard Johnson to relight the two Section Street crossings by P.D.
and Civic Center during the resurfacing project.
Walk & Roll to school annual day will be October 4th.
Triangle Project - Richard Johnson discussed that the Master Plan was complete. North Track, Fly Creek,
trails and birding blind. On-site home to be renovated and turned into a Nature Center with classrooms.
Timeline, next 4 years.
Baldwin County Connectivity Plan - Morgan and Dione working on but are having problems meeting and
getting everyone together due to schedules.
Highways 104/181 crossing issue: Committee to send ALDOT a letter stressing the immediate need for a
safe crossing at intersection. We can send the letter to Richard Johnson and he will get to the correct
ALDOT member. Letter needs to be created and submitted to Ri chard as soon as possible.
Committee bylaws rewritten by Gary Gover to note that committee will be meeting every two months
starting with the January 2024 meeting. This was submitted and approved by city council.
