Regular and Public Meeting
FA7RHOPE PLANNING AND ZON7NG COMMISSION
Friday, July 10, 1964
Present. Chairman Woolly, members Gaston, Spader, Bung, Kirk,
Frederick, Pitman.
Absent: Members Schneider, Bagnell.
Visitors: Mr. Bateman, Dyson, Yohn, Byrne, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Dyer,
Mr. Pearson, Conrad Billie, Porch, Chester Billie, Carter,
Macon, Lacey, Wright, Taylor Mrs. Mathis, Shiver, Taylor,
O'Neal, McGregor, Feathers, kcK ibbon.
Minutes of previous meeting read and approved as read.
OLD BUSINESS
Report from Mr. Dyson on Volanta Avenue junk yard read and placed on
file.
NEW BUSINESS
Rezoning request of Claude Jansen withdrawn temporarily.

Request of T. E. Dyer to rezone from R-1 to M-1 following described
property:
Beginning at the Northeast corner of the East half of
the Northeast quarter of the Southeast quarter of
fractional Section 39, Township 6 South, Range 2 East,
run West 208.7 feet, thence run South 208.7 feet,
thence run East 208.7 feet, thence run North 208.7 feet
to the point of beginning,.containing one (1) acre in
the Northeast corner of said 20 acre tract.
Mr. Lacey acting as spokesman for the dissident group raised these
points:
(1) objections to radical change of R to M district required
by nitrate storage.
(2) rufusal of rezoning requests along Greeno Road in past
and even existing non conforming uses not allowed to expand.
(3) Feeling that rezoning would decrease value of properties
and open gate to other "soot" rezoning.
A letter from George Stejskal stating his objections placed on file.
Mr. Dyer stated that his property was not close enough to objectors
to affect them; that nitrate tanks not dangerous and nitrate is
needed by farmers. Mrs. Dyer inquired as to where business can be
located where no one will object.
Mr. Bateman outlined criteria followed by zoning commission in
considering rezoning requests. Visitors were then dismissed.

reasons:
9) This would set a precedent of "spot" zoning.
2) Similar requests have been denied.
3) This area is adjacent to a proposed city
4) The Planning Commission does not believe

(7) The public expressed approval of the Greeno Road property

Votinq for the motion, members Frederick, Pitman, Bung and Spader.
Abstaining from voting: Members Kirk and Gaston. Motion carried.
The Chairman appointed committee of Mr. Frederick, Kirk and Spader
to study the zoning situation on Greeno Road from Highway.104 to
the South City Limits to ascertain if the present zoning is best
suited to the needs and desires of the majority of the property
owners.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.

yreeno Road,spot or othervise.Definetly between Hiway 104 & J'airhope
Are,
We own 600' on Greeno and have spent a lot of money to
make the property desirable Residential property and would not
want it to be ruined.
