Absent: Member Kirk���P� Visitors: R. Mason, G. Dyson, R. C. ) ohn, R. Green, Neil Mossholder of Bateman & Associates. Mr. D. W. Baonell, new member appointed to fill vacancy caused by resignation of Sam Dyson, was introduced. Purpose of meeting: �213 to discuss new post office location any other business presented Mr. Mossholder sum,;�arized the situation as follows: Preliminary Plot plan submitted makes no provisions for off street parking vital in down town business section. He pointed out that in location being considered (1) a subdivision of land is being made and said subdivision must be presented to Planning & Zoning Commission; (2) following subdivision approval, site plan of building must be pre- sented to and approved by Planning & Zoning Commission; (3) the Planning & Zoning Commission should formulate its requirements and/or ideals and forward them to post office department for its reactions. Following open discussion, motion by PIr. Poser, seconded by Mr. Gaston, that (1) the Post Office Dept. consider enlarging the parcel of propert as recommended by plat to order to provide off-street parking % if not feasible to urchase the additional property, the Post Office Department consider moving the structure back —T feet in order to provide diagonal customer parking spaces of suffi- cient width for automobile to be backed out of parking space without entering lane of traffic; (3) if neither of the above plans is practicable, the Fairhope Planning & Zoning Commission would appre- ciate a meeting with the proper postal department official in order to have the post office serve the community to the best advantage of all. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Mr. Schneider, seconded by Mr. Bung that the first step in the locating of a new post office building is subdivision of land that is proposed for this use. Motion carried. Robert Green appeared before the commission requestingthe insertion of word "hortoculture" in Ordinance #2_95, Art. 7, Secion 79 "Uses permitted on Appeal". No action taken.
