Absent:none Visitors: Sam Price, A.C. Council, Jr., Barbara Gooden, Roy key- nclds, P.J. Byrne, G. Dyson, L. E. Boone, C. A. Gaston, C. Arnold, Robert Wilder. R. Mason. Reading of minutes omitted. Purpose of Meeting: Location of building site for municipal build- ing program, including specifically the Bayou Charbon gully site feasibility of project, requirements for putting the land in shape for this use, and shall the Commission recommend use of this site to the City Council? L. I. Boone displayed cross sections and topo maps of the Bayou Charbon lands, pointing out that thm area from Section to Ban- croft streets. Total estimated cost of filling gully to the low- est level of Section street sidewalk- 47 feet- was v 40,000.00 including $21,600.00 for four 4 ft. culverts, resulting irr a filled area of approximately 500 ft. width and 450 ft. depth or 5 acres more or less. Opinions expressed in discussion following included: price per acre excessivie, whether location in town or on outskirts of present twun preferable, whether realestate dealers should be asked to present other sites for consideration, that less fill would effect a more beautiful setting, that fill x�x�ssx�a��g�t�t extending Bancroft street across gully would be of value to school traffic control, that landscaped city buildings at entrance to city is desireable, that gully fill would control erosion. Letter from Huffman- Slye RealLstate Brokers requesting consider- tion of Monroe Smith Trgct in northeast part of town as suitable site was read and discussed. Motion by Yr. Poser, seconded by 1,1r. Bung, that a special meeting of the Fairhope Planning and 'Zoning Commission be called for Fri- d�y, April 19, 1963 to discuss the availability of M"unicipal building sites further ano that the secretary write letters to all realestate dealers licensed in the City of Fairhope request- ing their recominedaticns on other sites and cost of same. Motion carried unanimously. hTotion by l-lr. Dyson, Seconded by lur. Bung, that the engineer be instructed to continue work on the Bayou Charbon property site and prepare more accurete estimates on cost of developing site. TvIotion carried unanim usly.
